Tuesday's Grand Connection Thought
by Mary May Larmoyeux
When I was in Washington, D.C., for the national March for Life, a speaker said that he had seen his grandson for the first time. He had just seen the child's ultrasound.
The ultrasound of one of our granddaughters once hung on her bedroom wall. I'll never forget her pointing to it a couple of years ago. "See, Nana, that's when God put me together."
I couldn't help but smile. Out of the mouths of babes!
Years ago I heard a woman say that when she knits, every single strand of the yarn is touched by her fingers. She compared that to God knitting each of us in our mother's womb. "You formed my inward parts," says Psalm 139:13-14. "You wove me in my mother's womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made."
We granmdparents have a wonderful opportunity to affirm to our legacy that God made them perfectly! If you know where an ultrasound picture is of your grandchild, you might just want to snuggle in an overstuffed chair with your legacy and say what my granddaughter told me. That's when God "put you together."
He is able,
Mary

Let's Dream of Spring ... Make some Daffodil Crafts
Friday's Grand Connection Fun
by Mary May Larmoyeux
On these cold winter days, I like to think of the hope of spring. The daffodils will be blooming before we know it.
Speaking of golden fields, this is a great time to make a daffodil craft or two with our grands. We could purchase an inexpensive sun visor (at the dollar store) and add some artificial daffodils. Just clip the daffodil blooms off of the stem and hot glue them to the visor. It could be a fun surprise to mail decorated sun visors to out-of-town grandkids.
Here are some other fun daffodil crafts:
Paper-Daffodil Napkin Ring
Potted Daffodil Picture
Daffodil Crown

Helping Grandkids Trust God's Heart
Tuesday's Grand Connection Thought
by Mary May Larmoyeux
Who would have thought that this time last week a 7.3 earthquake would hit Haiti? As we've seen and heard, the devastation is unbelievable.
As grandparents, I think we have a great opportunity to help our grands pray for the people in Haiti and for the countless people around the world who are trying to help them. Depending on the age of our grands, we could also search the Bible together (in person, via the Internet, by phone) for various verses about how we can always trust God ... how He always ultimately works everything for good.
Psalm 91:2 says: "I will say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust!"
And Romans 8:28 reminds us that "God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."
As I've heard it said before, we don't always understand God's ways, but we can always trust His heart.
He is able,
Mary

With All Her Love
Tuesday’s Grand Connection Thought
by Mary May Larmoyeux
Our three-year-old granddaughter and her little brother spent this past weekend with Pops and me. One of the things that we did together was make a cake. When our son and his wife came over for lunch, they told the children that the cake tasted especially good. The three year old cocked her head. “Know why?” she asked.
“Why?” her dad answered.
“I poured the cake mix in with all of my love,” she said. “The goodness you taste is my love.”
Out of the mouths of babes! She captured the real reason why she wanted to help make the cake. And, she expressed why caring grandparent do what we do. The reason we cook meals, baby-sit, go to football games, pray, and read goodnight stories is not out of obligation, but out of love.
1 Corinthians 13:13 says it well: "And now these three remains: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love."
Happy New Year,
Mary
