I'm always amazed by your regular encouragements to me as an individual...that just so happens to also be a grandparent! I love the idea of sharing acts of kindness along with our grandkids. Thanks!

We have always tried to teach the children to think outside of themselves. One Christmas we gathered dolls from the neighborhood and I taught the children how to wash the dolls and brush or braid the hair. I sewed new dresses and hats for the dolls and we placed them in colorful shoe boxes that the children had papered and ribboned. We then watched on T.V. as Santa gave the dolls to needy children. It was a wonderful lesson just to see the joy in the eyes of a child who loved her “new” doll. We also bought an animal from Heifer in the grandchildren’s names. They had to tell us the name they gave the animal when they wrote their thank you notes to grandma and grandpa. “Mama Yama Llama” and “Buffy Buffalo” were some that I can remember. Some of the grandchildren are now married and we hope they carry out the traditions with their children. Blessings, Rita
